Gladiators Cricket Club, Korea

Gladiators Cricket Club will participate in Clark Sixes 2009 from 20th to 23rd Feb.

Gladiators Cricket Club based on different locations in the world, ie; Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, Spain, India and Philippines, but main pillar stands in Korea which is called Ryu Roni and famous as BIG RONI. He took the advantage of being founder of the team and selected himself as captain too, but most of the time his team players are helping him to run the show and that is Gladiators all about!!!

We are fun loving team and love to travel around the globe and play the most exciting format of cricket “THE SIXES”.

Last year in 2008 in Clark Gladiators did well and lost to Shanghai Dragons in Cup Semi Final after a very close and nail biting finish. Then toured to Malaysia, and in Kajang International Cricket Sixes in Kuala Lumpur Gladiators were a very famous team and were highlighted in local press because of its fun loving cricketers and being considered and accepted as a ‘team’ which never had any base camp and no constitutions.

Its first AGM just had to happened in Roni’s mind and next AGM no body knows where would be dreamed.. But Gladiators will be participating in sixes around the globe and especially in ACST tournaments.

Ryu Roni “Big Roni” - Founder

Famous as BIG RONI, Pakistani via Korea, a big heart and laughter machine it doesn’t matters its on the field or off the field. Big drinking: Helping the Korean National team time to time, Love to show his Korean passport especially to girls he meets in trains or streets, and it doesn’t bother him at all. Lovely hitter and handy off break bowler, he runs hard he think… but ‘if’ he gets under the ball in time he don’t drop much cathes!!! Spend half of his time playing cricket in Japan, and other half keeping the crowed happy with his dancing and jokes in four languages.

Tauseef Bukhari “FBI” – Captain

Fabulous Bold & Intelligent Tauseef right hand off break bowler and right hand batsman. Always recognised by others, as “Imran Khan” we are not sure if Imran Khan have any objection on it.

A real fighter, and team player. No questions about his talent. He is very famous and popular in cricketing circle. Recently appointed as Hong Kong national cricket team manager on Sri Lanka tour. Gladiator’s “batting terrorist”. He played Wills Cup in Pakistan and his all age group is retired from cricket. He is not yet giving up though.

Tariq Malik – Member

Right hand open batsman and right arm medium pace bowler. Superb cricketer played first class cricket in Pakistan. Now giving his time to Spanish cricket and ‘others’, He is the heart of the Gladiators with a cool personality. A real ‘heartbreaker’

Ron “The Black Storm” – Member

Right arm Top Spin, Leg Break bowler. Have some idea about batting. Basically he is from Jamaica, but living in Japan. A writer, author of many books in Japanese. Gladiator’s most popular member. He is an experienced cricketer who knows the philosophy of the game.

Damian Cagney – Member

Only Australian in the team. Right hand medium pace bowler and right hand trustable batsman. Quick runner between the wickets, and great fielder. Working in Japan. He love to play guitar so good and entertain others.

Prem Subramanian - Member

Right hand batsman and right arm “medium wide” bowler. Very enthusiastic in field and a lovely bloke. Played a good class cricket in India. Currently working in Korea. He doesn’t like Roni at all but sacrifice for him always, even his sleep. A good team player.

Sanjay “McGrath” Patnaik - Member

Recently been kidnapped and coming as a hostage to Clark sixes. Right handed, have some idea about batting as per his thinking. Very economical right arm medium pace bowler. That’s why he is famous in Hong Kong as Sanjay McGrath. Can be seen and recognised clearly in daylight only. Many time batsmen go for bad light appeal while he starts his run up towards them. He is the smileiest face in the squad and a big support for the team.

Lama “Sher” Bahadur - Member

A very famous character. Very handy cricketer, doing a lot of hard work with Hong Kong national team as fitness trainer (we still have to test his own fitness in Clark).

Right hand batsman and right arm slowest fast bowler.

Raj “Mystery Player” - Member

Right hand batsman and right arm bowler, that’s all what we can tell at the moment as he is our “Mystery Player”.

Iftikhar Ahmed “Steve Waugh” – Member

Recently joined the Gladiators, often feel himself is Steve Waugh, have seen many doctors but still he is not feeling better. Right hand stylish batsman and right arm bowler, smart fielder. A possible talent in Gladiators.

Mukhtar Ahmed “Mark Waugh” – Member

Brother of Iftikhar, He has to be named as Mark Waugh because of his brother. He is right hand batsman and right arm googly bowler, can bowl medium pace if required. Fielding is a question mark…he have advantage of ‘home crowed’ in Philippines as he has plans to see his many in-laws on this tour.
